Crab Cakes

Although Mango Thai Fighter is based off a Thai mango salad, it has become a favourite around our house for almost any meal — including crab cakes. We love a good fish cake, and who doesn't want a little kick to go with it?

This sauce was born out of an experiment to see if I could successfully grow Thai peppers in my driveway. The peppers were a huge success, and as we thought more about it, the idea of mangoes and carrots as a base led to creating our own spicy salad dressing. To get that hit of umami at the end, we added a little fish sauce — which makes this our only non-vegan sauce.

The ginger and mango play nicely with almost any seafood, but adding a few drops to crab cakes takes them to a whole new level.
