Noodles and Meatballs

Noodles and Meatballs

Vulcan's Forge works perfectly with the classic family favourite: noodles and meatballs. This one could easily fit into comfort food territory too — it's a staple dish for when the kids are hungry and we need something quick and easy on the table.

Each fall, we get together with a neighbour or two and make a giant batch of homemade pasta sauce — about 20L per family, enough to get us through the winter. Sometimes we use premade meatballs, sometimes I make my own: 1 lb lean ground beef, 1 egg, 1 small onion (minced or grated), 3 cloves of garlic (minced or grated), 1/3 cup breadcrumbs, dried oregano, salt and pepper to taste. Shape into about 20 meatballs, bake at 350°F for 10 minutes, flip, and bake another 10.

Gently drop the meatballs into your sauce for a few minutes before serving to absorb some of the flavour. Stir in your favourite pasta shape, and for the brave of heart, add a few drops of Vulcan's Forge.
